1898
Employees of the London Street Railway form their first Union. Motormen and Conductors strike, suspending service for 12 days.
1899
79 Motormen and Conductors walk out and suspend service. The company hires replacement workers and riots ensue from June to September. The Militia is called out as the Mayor reads the Riot Act.
1900
Labour unrest continues as the company continues using non-unionized replacement workers.
1917
Employees form a new Union.
1920
A strike stops service again, and the Ontario Railway and Municipal Board takes over operation of the London Street Railway. After months of negotiation, employees receive raises of four to eight cents per hour.
1951
The City buys the London Street Railway and forms the LTC.
1958
The first Christmas Bus is decorated, in a tradition that continues today.
1973
LTC moves to its present location at 450 Highbury Ave N
1975
100 years of Public Transportation in London!
1981
Annual ridership exceeds 18 million passengers.
