What's It Like To Be A Transit Operator For London Transit?
We have all been asked by friends and passengers about our profession. In answering, I found people shaking their heads in disbelief.
According to the Ontario Employee Standard Act (ESA) workers get a lunch break.
Transit Operators Do Not.
Some work 8 to 10 hours straight with only a few minutes at a terminal point if we can make it there in time to get out of the seat.
Four Assaults on Operators In the Past 10 Days
London Transit Operators are being victimized as a result of following their job description. Operators who are enforcing rules of fare collection and passenger conduct are being physically and verbally assaulted on a regular basis. There are no consequences for passengers who break these rules. It is only in extreme cases of physical assault when charges have been laid by the London Police that passengers are banned from riding.
